As the smell of freshly cut grass returns and the sound of leather on willow echoes across village greens, Cambridge Lens is stepping into a new chapter—cricket.
This summer, we’re swapping football boots for cricket whites and heading out to local grounds to capture the timeless charm and competitive spirit of the game. From the creak of old pavilions to the elegance of a perfectly timed cover drive, the lens will be trained on every detail that makes cricket a summer staple across Cambridgeshire.
What it does guarantee? A foolproof suntan sat on the boundary and a new string to the bow—figuring out the best spot to pitch up with the camera. Every ground is different, every shadow cast by the sun changes the feel of the frame, and finding that sweet spot is all part of the journey.
Histon and Girton Cricket Clubs will be the first of a few community-based clubs I’m looking forward to working with. The plan? To capture the personalities, the passion, and the play—one shot at a time. Whether it's a diving stop, a looping leg-spinner, or just the simple joy of teammates relaxing between overs, Cambridge Lens aims to frame those moments that often go unseen.
Cricket is as much about atmosphere and tradition as it is about action. Expect images that reflect the rhythm of the game, the pride of club colours, and the memories made across 22 yards.
So here’s to a new season, new clubs, and new memories—through the lens.
